Will I have to spend a ton of money on clothes?
When you fill out your questionnaire I collect info from you on what you are comfortable spending on certain items of clothing. Before I start shopping I know what your needs are so I can put together a budget on how to best allocate your money and then only present items that will fit your budget. There is no benefit in me pushing you to buy expensive things. I am a stylist focused on creating a sustainable wardrobe for you so it is very important to me that we shop with intention. It is also important to me that you love what you buy whether it is $5 or $500 so that you will wear it again and again for years to come. My goal is for you to stop over consuming and start to thoughtfully consume when you need something.
You should understand though that good clothes aren’t cheap, and cheap clothes aren’t good. Clothes made by fast fashion companies are cheap because they are exploiting workers, not paying livable wages and not taking necessary steps to create more eco friendly practices. That doesn’t mean you have to spend an arm and a leg to have more sustainable clothing, but that you should stop to think about why something costs what it does. If it was made using organic fabrics and workers were paid livable wages, it is certainly something to take into consideration when deciding if you feel the cost of the item makes sense.
What does sustainable personal style mean?
When I say sustainable personal style it has two meanings. I want to create a style that you can easily sustain as well as a wardrobe that is more sustainable to our world. To be a truly sustainable fashion company you need to be eco friendly and ethical. That means workers need to be paid livable wages in safe working conditions, and the process of how to make the items should not harm the environment. Unfortunately, there is not a lot of transparency with many fashion brands. I do my research so we can try to start investing our money into brands making efforts to create a better world. My mission as your personal stylist is to encourage you to shop more thoughtfully and intentionally while looking like your fabulous self. Luckily when you work with me it happens easily and naturally. Don’t worry, I won’t turn you into a granola hippie (unless you want me too).
I don’t know anything about sustainability in fashion, do you still want to work with me?
Absolutely! Wearing more environmentally sustainable and ethical clothes is just a by-product of working with me. The road to having a more thoughtful closet and becoming a more conscious consumer is not a one size fits all journey, nor does it happen overnight. Choosing to work with me shows me that you are interested in helping be a part of the positive change in the fashion industry and that is an amazing place to start.
How far do you travel for appointments?
This gal loves to travel so I am certainly open to traveling outside of Los Angeles for appointments if you are willing to pay for me to get there. If you live in Tucson, AZ or Chicago, IL I usually visit both places multiple times a year if you want to schedule an in person styling at one of those times. I started my business during the Covid-19 pandemic so I made sure to set it up in a way I can create a full personal styling experience that can be held virtually from start to finish. I do of course prefer to see your beautiful face in person, but also I have set up my business so that I can help you with all your needs virtually if we are unable to meet in person.
